Educational Sessions 2009-10 | Print |
The process of administering compliance education sessions is a very important component in striving to meet the mission of the Athletics Department as well as the University of Utah, and the Athletic Compliance Office appreciates your continued support.  Compliance with NCAA rules is the responsibility of everyone on campus from student workers to the highest administrative officials!

All senior administrative staff members, coaches and sport-specific administrators (e.g., Associate AD’s, Directors of Operations) are required to attend six (6) compliance educational sessions per year
.  This includes the compliance orientation session on August 26, 2009 that is MANDATORY FOR ALL STAFF MEMBERS.  Additionally, the Athletics Compliance Office will conduct team-specific educational sessions—all coaches will be required to attend the session held for your specific team.  Coaches may select the remaining four sessions they will attend and are encouraged to attend as many education sessions as their schedules allow.  A staff member attending more than six sessions will be permitted to “bank” up to one session for the following year.  It is strongly recommended that each coaching staff have at least one coach attend any given compliance education session so that each program’s staff is aware of the issues in a particular topical area, and also so that printed materials may be provided to other coaching staff members who may not be in attendance.  PENALTY: Any coaching staff member who fails to meet the minimum number of required education sessions will be precluded from making or receiving any recruiting telephone calls for a period of two consecutive weeks to be determined at the discretion of the Director of Athletics.

All other staff members and individuals with athletics department responsibilities are required to attend three (3) compliance educational sessions per year.
It is MANDATORY THAT ALL STAFF MEMBERS attend the compliance orientation session on August 26, 2009.  Additionally, the Athletics Compliance Office will conduct several department-specific educational sessions for the units listed below.  You will be required to attend the session for your specific department.  Staff members may select the remaining session they will attend, and are encouraged to attend as many sessions as their schedule will allow.  Staff members are required to attend three education sessions and may NOT bank any educational sessions.  PENALTY: Any staff member who fails to meet the minimum number of education sessions shall be required to meet with their direct supervisor.
